Within these five practices, the text is divided into five parts: first, generally exhorting cultivation; second, specifically teaching the five practices; third, generally concluding and exhorting; fourth, Kāśyapa's understanding; fifth, clarifying that the benefits of these five practices are vast and broad, and that many people attain them together. In the former part, it first generally exhorts studying the five practices; from 'there is further one practice, which is called the Tathāgata...' onward, it discriminates the basis of practice: relying on the Buddha's practice of the Dharma. Within exhorting study, it first generally exhorts contemplation; contemplation arises from teaching, which is why it says to contemplate the five practices exclusively with respect to this *Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra*.
