經曰「但得聞是」以下，第二雖不生得益。言闇處者三陰，邊地者即八難，邪見者則五見，惡律儀者則不律儀。《對法論》立十四種，《涅槃經》立十六，《瑜伽論》立十二等，開合不定也。正見者，反邪見故。眷屬者，反前惡律儀。不謗三寶者，不墮闇處、邊地也。

From the sūtra's words 'merely being able to hear this' onward, this is the second part, obtaining benefit although not being reborn. As for 'dark places', these are the three lower destinies; 'border lands' are the eight difficulties; 'wrong views' are the five views; 'evil discipline' is non-discipline. The Abhidharmasamuccaya establishes fourteen kinds, the Nirvāṇa Sūtra establishes sixteen, the Yogācārabhūmiśāstra establishes twelve, and so on; their expansion and contraction are not fixed. 'Right views' are the opposite of wrong views. 'Retinue' is the opposite of the aforementioned evil discipline. 'Not slandering the Three Jewels' means not falling into the dark places and border lands.
