什曰：慈悲性弱，從物入有，猶如女之為性弱而隨物也。肇曰：慈悲之情像女人性，故以為女。生曰：慈悲以外適為用，有女義焉。

[Kumāra]jīva says: The nature of benevolence and compassion is gentle, following beings into existence, just as the nature of a daughter is gentle and accommodating to others. [Seng]zhao says: The feeling of benevolence and compassion resembles the nature of a woman; therefore it is taken as the daughter. [Dao]sheng says: Benevolence and compassion take adapting outward as their function, which has the sense of a daughter.
