9.8

什曰：維摩詰勸共見佛，旨可尋也。一者見其誠心，欲遂其本意。二者欲令證明香飯多所發悟。三者以其懷勝遠遊，宜令實反。故欲共詣佛所諮請遺法。

[Kumāra]jīva says: Vimalakīrti urged seeing the Buddha together; the purport can be sought: first, seeing their sincerity, he wished to fulfill their original intent; second, he wished to have it verified that the fragrant rice brought about many awakenings; third, because they had undertaken a distant journey carrying something superior, it was fitting that they truly return. Therefore, he wished to go together to the Buddha's place to inquire about the bequeathed Dharma.
