[Seng]zhao says: Pure Name's words were contrary, yet their principle was in accord; Subhūti seems not to have reflected upon his words, and so, not knowing what this exposition meant, he set down his bowl and wished to leave. [Dao]sheng says: Having no ground to advance or retreat, he did not know how to answer, and thus was vanquished. It was said earlier that only if it were so could he take the food; since he was not so, he did not take it. Being vanquished, he had to forfeit the bowl, and so he set it down and wished to leave.
