Second, clarifying that what is explained in the texts of outsiders is not the true mark: Non-Buddhists mostly give rise to views of personality, extreme views, and wrong views, either positing that the soul and the world are permanent, that this alone is true and everything else is false... up to positing that the soul and the world are neither permanent nor impermanent, that this alone is true and everything else is false. Falling in this way into the fourteen unanswerable questions and generating the sixty-two views, although each claims to be right, they are not the true mark in reality. Because they each give rise to various afflictions due to views, creating various karma and revolving in birth and death, all their verbal teachings are frivolous discourses belonging to 'views'. Frivolous discourse destroys the wisdom eye and prevents seeing reality; therefore they are not the true mark of all dharmas.
