Third, regarding how the scriptural teachings of the śrāvakas do not clarify the true mark: the sūtras of the śrāvakas mostly clarify impermanence and non-self, breaking down all phenomena and teaching the nirvāṇa in which suffering is exhausted. Furthermore, people of the śrāvaka [vehicle] dread and fear birth and death; contemplating impermanence to sever the fetters, they wish to enter nirvāṇa in this very body and cannot deeply seek the true mark of all phenomena.
