First, the gate of existence: this is the Tripiṭaka teaching clarifying the existence of the arising and perishing of correct causes and conditions. If one receives this teaching, one can destroy the sixteen views on knowing and see that all conditioned dharmas of aggregates, realms, and sense bases are all impermanent, suffering, empty, and without self, attain the supreme worldly dharma, and generate true taintlessness. Because of existence one sees the truth; existence is the gate to paramārtha-satya. Hence the Mahāsaṃnipāta Sūtra states: "The profound principle cannot be spoken; the foremost real meaning is devoid of sounds and letters. The bhikṣu Kaundinya, regarding all dharmas, obtained true knowing and seeing." This is what is set forth in the various abhidharma treatises.
