"Patience... [living beings are born in] his land" also has five kinds: First, worldly concrete patience, as practiced by ordinary people. The other four kinds of patience are again distinguished according to the four teachings; this can be known by following the previous examples. "Later, when he accomplishes buddhahood, they all come to be born in his land": Just as wheel-turning kings, Śakra, and the devas of the higher realms possess the thirty-two marks, and śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas also have marks, the karma producing the marks differs across the four kinds in the four teachings, and all have patience as their root. The four ways of cultivating marks were already briefly distinguished above in the praise of virtues under renouncing ornaments and fine things; the rest is analogous to the straight mind.
