"Teaching the removal of... the eight difficulties": Regarding the eight difficulties: the three evil destinies are three; fourth, Uttarakuru in the north; fifth, the long-lived devas; sixth, blindness, deafness, and muteness; seventh, worldly intellectual acumen; eighth, being born before or after a buddha. There are two types: first, within the triple world, which are the difficulties for the former two teachings; second, beyond the triple world, which are the difficulties for the latter two teachings. The bodhisattva teaches the removal of both kinds of eight difficulties according to the four teachings; this will be further distinguished when coming to the chapter on Subhūti. The bodhisattva removes them himself, teaches others, praises [their removal], and rejoices along with it; later, when he accomplishes buddhahood, his land is without the three evil destinies and eight difficulties. Analyzing whether there are difficulties or no difficulties with respect to the four lands involves exceedingly numerous doctrines and aspects, and is hard to explain completely. The rest is as in the straight mind.
