From "The Buddha with a single sound..." down, spanning two lines, the third part praises the analytical knowledge of inspired eloquence. Turning inexhaustibly, the assembly all rejoices to hear. Adapting the four truths to capacities: "I shall preach frightening matters for them." The three realms are all suffering, and because of suffering fear arises: this is the truth of suffering. Seeking the bliss of nirvāṇa, and because of bliss rejoicing: this is the truth of cessation. Renunciation: the cause of all suffering has craving as its root: this is the truth of origination. Severing doubts: this is the path. Furthermore, in terms of the siddhāntas: the suffering of the three realms is fearful—this is the mundane [siddhānta]. Rejoicing is causing good roots to arise for the sake of people, hence rejoicing [is the individual siddhānta]. Renunciation is renouncing afflictions, which is the therapeutic [siddhānta], matching medicine to disease. Severing doubts is the path of seeing the truths, which is the supreme truth [siddhānta]. Such is the power expounded by a single sound. The Tathāgata is fundamentally neither the four truths nor the four siddhāntas; being able to use these teachings to skillfully benefit beings is the secret of speech.
