「從三十七道品生，從止觀生」，四教道品如前說。四教各修，證菩提果，名為法身故也。道品悉屬當教慧行。止觀生者，止觀即是定慧因也。緣理是慧行，緣事是行行。四教各修事理止觀之因，證佛法身定慧之果，故言從止觀生。

"Born from the thirty-seven factors of awakening; born from tranquility and insight": The factors of awakening of the four teachings are as previously explained. Because each of the four teachings cultivates them to realize the fruition of bodhi, they are called the dharmakāya. The factors of awakening all belong to the wisdom-practice of their respective teachings. As for "born from tranquility and insight": tranquility and insight are the causes of concentration and wisdom. Taking principle as object is wisdom-practice; taking phenomena as object is action-practice. Each of the four teachings cultivates the causes of phenomenal and principled tranquility and insight to realize the fruition of concentration and wisdom of the buddha dharmakāya; hence it says "born from tranquility and insight."
