5.134

問：破彌勒一人，悉有如上轉教觀之益不？答：彌勒補處，權實化物所化不定。或見彌勒被呵，其稟權者各捨教觀，其稟圓教不得意者，執語心忘法愛自滅。若得意者，知是砧槌共利物耳。

Question: Does refuting Maitreya alone completely have the benefit of turning the teachings and contemplations as mentioned above? Answer: Maitreya is in the position of succession; in transforming beings through the provisional and the real, those transformed are not uniform. Some see Maitreya rebuked, and those who received the provisional each abandon their teachings and contemplations; those who received the round teaching but did not grasp its intent, forgetting the mind while clinging to words, will naturally extinguish their attachment to the Dharma. If they grasp the intent, they know that these are anvil and hammer jointly benefiting beings.
