"When among Brahmā gods, he was honored among Brahmā gods, instructing them with superior wisdom": the Brahmā gods of the eighteen heavens mostly generate attachment to the flavors of the four dhyānas and the four immeasurables, and their attainments are not deep. Vimalakīrti manifested the contemplation, training, scenting, and cultivation that penetrate deeply without bounds; therefore he was honored by the Brahmās. He preached for them the pure, untainted dhyāna and the expedient superior wisdom of skillfully entering, emerging from, and abiding in it, leading them into the four lands according to their capacities.
