"One who knows... up to... good understanding": seventh, concluding with upholding the precepts. The Buddha's teaching originally aimed to have beings sever evil and enter the Path; if one deeply grasps the Buddha's intent, adapts to capacities and discerns so as to be able to remove transgressions and defilements and enter the Path, then one does not contravene the Buddha's teaching, and this is directly upholding the precepts. "One who knows this is called one of good understanding": knowing that the characteristics of light and heavy are all like illusions and transformations, and having a good understanding of light and heavy so as to enter the ultimate truth devoid of light and heavy—this is the good understanding of skillfully crossing over via the vinaya.
