「不堪」下，五百八千既俱辭不堪，諒梵本各有其言。「又文」下，〈問疾品〉也。「慇懃無量」者，即文殊述佛旨也。經云「世尊慇懃致問無量」。「兼八」下，即〈不二門品〉也。八千菩薩隨從入室說其所證，亦合盡陳，經文但三十二人而已。「此諸言談」者，謂若備書文殊無量之問、盡述八千不二法門者，何秖半卷也。「爰至」下，即〈菩薩行〉、〈阿閦佛〉二品也。爰，曰也，語辭耳。「詣菴羅園」者，即淨名掌擎大眾還菴羅園，對佛復宗明佛國義也。《尚書》曰「對楊天子之休命」，孔安國《傳》曰「對，答也。」答受美命，而稱楊之。「高論往復」者，往，問也；復，答也。「豈容止有數紙」者，意謂二品其文更廣。

"Incapable": since the five hundred and the eight thousand all declined as incapable, presumably the Sanskrit original contained words for each of them. "Also the text" downward refers to the "Inquiring about Illness" chapter. "Courteously in immeasurable ways" refers to Mañjuśrī recounting the Buddha's intent. The scripture states: "The World-Honoured One courteously conveys immeasurable inquiries." "Together with the eight [thousand]" downward refers to the "Gate of Non-duality" chapter. The eight thousand bodhisattvas who followed into the room to expound what they had realized should also have all stated it, yet the scriptural text has only thirty-two persons. "These words and discussions" means that if the immeasurable inquiries of Mañjuśrī were fully written down and the non-dual dharmamukhas of the eight thousand were fully narrated, how could it be merely half a fascicle? "Coming down to" downward refers to the two chapters "Bodhisattva Practices" and "Akṣobhya Buddha". Yuan means yue (to speak); it is merely an introductory particle. "Proceeding to the Āmrapālī Grove" refers to Jingming holding the great assembly in his palm and returning to the Āmrapālī Grove to restate the central tenets before the Buddha and elucidate the meaning of the Buddha-land. The Shangshu states: "In response, spreading the fine mandate of the Son of Heaven"; Kong Anguo's Commentary states: "Dui means to respond." Responding to and receiving the fine mandate, one praises and proclaims it. "The exchanges of lofty discussions": "going" means asking; "returning" means answering. "How could it contain only a few sheets of paper?" means that the text of these two chapters was even more extensive.
