二、釋疑。「非請有無」者，機熟無請亦應，機生雖請不應。請而復應、不請不應，生熟可知。

Second, resolving doubts. As for "not concerning the presence or absence of a request": when faculties are ripe, even without a request there is a response; when faculties are unripe, even if requested there is no response. Responding upon request, or not responding without a request—the ripeness or unripeness [of faculties] can thereby be known.
