暹云：《沙彌尼經》飲酒有三十六失。《尚書．酒誥》曰「越小大邦斥喪，亦罔非酒惟辜。」傳曰「於小大之國所用喪亡，亦無不以酒為罪也。」「昏神亂道」者，昏心神、亂正道也。「復次酒是煩惱」等者，荊溪云：準此句中作觀心義，前文諸句亦應例之。如《安樂行》十種惱亂尚作觀心，但不及前釋貨財等文相周備，策勵道俗令成真實淨名之行。

Daoxian states: The Sūtra of the Śrāmaṇerī lists thirty-six faults of drinking liquor. The Book of Documents, 'Announcement on Liquor,' states: 'Whenever small or large states have perished, there was none in which liquor was not the fault.' The Commentary states: 'Among the small and large states that thereby perished, there was none where liquor was not the offense.' 'Befuddling the spirit and deranging the Way' means befuddling the mind-spirit and disordering the correct Way. Regarding 'Furthermore, liquor is defilement,' and so forth, Jingxi states: 'Following this sentence to cultivate the meaning of mind contemplation, all the preceding sentences should likewise be treated by analogy. Just as in the "Peaceful Practices," the ten kinds of disturbances are still subjected to mind contemplation, yet they do not equal the completeness of the preceding explanation on commodities and wealth, exhorting monks and laity to accomplish the true practice of Jingming.'
