二、答釋，二：初、約喻簡示。荊溪云：答中意者，必不相異方名體用。二、「無緣」下，約法正明，二：初、明體用互融。法身體也，慈悲用也。二、「如鏡」下，更以喻顯。

Second, answering and explaining, which has two parts: first, briefly indicating through the analogy. Jingxi states: The intention in the answer is that only when they are not different are they called substance and function. Second, under "conditionless," properly clarifying in terms of dharma, which has two parts: first, clarifying that substance and function mutually interpenetrate. The dharmakāya is the substance; loving-kindness and compassion are the function. Second, under "like a mirror," further elucidating by means of an analogy.
