Second, as for the inconceivability of the great and the small, the Dazhidulun states: "In the teachings of the Hīnayāna there are five inconceivabilities: first, the inconceivability of sentient beings' karmic actions; second, the inconceivability of the world; third, the power of dragons; fourth, the power of a person sitting in dhyāna; fifth, the power of the Buddha." In the Mahāyāna teachings, it explains that preaching the Lotus Sūtra took sixty kalpas, yet the assembly perceived it as lasting only the space of a meal. In the Hīnayāna teachings, there is no such thing. This is called the inconceivability of the great and the small.
