Second, from "mindfulness" onward, from the applications of mindfulness possessing the limbs of the path and the three liberations. In the four applications of mindfulness in the Dazhidu lun: the four kinds of diligence are called the right efforts; the four kinds of concentrated minds are called the four bases of psychic power; the arising of the five wholesome roots is called the faculties; the growth of the faculties is called the powers; distinguishing the functions of the path in the four applications is called awakening; practicing in the tranquil path of the four applications of mindfulness is called the right path. The thirty-seven limbs are like a level path; emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness are like the three gates of the city; nirvāṇa is like the city.
