2.87

五百世無手者，《梵網經》云「若佛子，若自身手過酒器與人飲酒者，五百世無手，何況自飲。」伏匿，皆隱也。自說私隱，故云發出也。

Concerning "being handless for five hundred lifetimes," the Brahmajāla Sūtra says: "If a disciple of the Buddha, with their own hands, passes a vessel of liquor to someone to drink, they will be without hands for five hundred lifetimes; how much more so if they drink it themselves?" To "conceal" (fu) and "hide" (ni) both mean secretiveness. When one reveals one's own private secrets, it is therefore called "divulging" (fachū).
