Second, from "object and wisdom" onward explains the non-duality of object and contemplation; there are two: first, integrating object and contemplation; there are two: first, showing the characteristics. The object is original enlightenment, and wisdom is initial enlightenment; although divided into original and initial, they are a single enlightenment. Since object and wisdom are thus, only then is it called the Dharma of mutual fusion without duality. Therefore this sūtra adduces that "suchness and suchness do not differ". "Suchness" means non-difference, meaning that the object does not differ from wisdom, and wisdom does not differ from the object. It is also called a "single union"; because their substance is one, they can intimately merge.
