Third, non-arising. With non-thought, one contemplates the true mark of offenses in every thought; thought and the true mark differ in name as the active and the passive, yet their essence is not two. Contemplating in this way, since the marks of offenses are forgotten, the true mark also vanishes. This wisdom is like the sun, melting the frost and dew of offenses. Having no objective condition as condition, it is ultimately empty without marks of middle or extremes; because this principle has no superior, it is called the most supreme. From 'although not' onward: These three types of repentance are practiced simultaneously; non-arising is primary, and the [other] two serve as auxiliary conditions; hence it says 'combining both'. This is practicing the primary and auxiliary in union: like oil augmenting brightness, realization of the principle is all the more swift.
