Under the fourth section on the king of men's practice obtaining benefit, within [the major section on] vowing protection: Previously, the Buddha explained the benefit of practicing the sūtra; here below, the king of men obtains benefit based on practice. There are three [parts]: first, praising the Dharma; second, praising the person from "Therefore, if a king of men" onward; third, guarding and protecting from "We shall protect that king of men" onward. The first presents the reason for guarding and protecting; from "We, the Four Kings" onward directly explains the guarding and protecting, which has four parts: 1. explaining the time of guarding and protecting; 2. the gods and others descending to the royal palace from "we shall conceal ourselves" onward; 3. the gods together forming good friendships from "World-Honoured One, we..." onward; 4. directly explaining the guarding and protecting from "therefore we..." onward. In the second part, first the Four Heavenly Kings arrive, and later from "and so on up to" onward explains the arrival of Brahmā, Śakra, and the others. The remaining parts may be understood [from the text].
