Next, the fourth [section] under rescuing the fish explains the fish repaying kindness, and the text has fourteen [parts]: 1. The three persons return home. 2. From "is the elder's son" onward, the elder's son sleeps drunkenly. 3. From "At that time, the ten thousand fish" onward, the fish pass away and are born in heaven. 4. From "formed this thought" onward, their thoughts recognize their past karma. 5. From "Therefore, all of us now" onward, they discuss that the kindness ought to be repaid. 6. From "Thereupon, the ten thousand" onward, they repay kindness, within which there are again three: first, descending from heaven; next, from "At that time, the elder's son" onward, repaying virtue; after that, from "then vanished from there" onward, the matter being finished, returning to heaven. Within repaying virtue there are three: first, repaying the elder's kindness; next, from "throughout the kingdom of King Jalendradhara" onward, repaying the king's kindness, because the king lent elephants and also protected the Buddha-dharma, enabling them to hear it; finally, from "These devaputras" onward, repaying the kindness of their place of birth. 7. From "King Jalendradhara" onward, the king inquires about the auspicious responses. 8. From "The ministers answered" onward, the ministers answer fully. 9. From "The king said to his ministers" onward, the king orders an emissary to summon him. 10. From "Then the elder's son" onward, the elder complies with the order. 11.
