下第三護，初標能護人；「說伽陀」下說護持，二頌：初一頌述護所由、後一頌陳護法。佛昔聞法得成菩提，為報經恩，為菩薩說。我今得聞，亦應報恩，受持流布。

Below is the third protection. First, indicating the person who is able to protect; from 'spoke gāthās' onward, speaking of the protection, in two verses: the first verse states the reason for the protection; the subsequent verse declares the protection of the Dharma. The Buddhas of old heard the Dharma and attained the realization of bodhi; to repay their gratitude to the sūtra, they expound it for the bodhisattvas. Having now heard it, I too should repay gratitude, receiving, upholding, and circulating it.
