五法、三自性、八識、二無我，皆是此經所說聖智之事。諸菩薩已聞說八識竟，念欲聞三自性法，是故大慧為再請。但言自性經者，舉總而攝別。言百八句分別所依者，謂百八句以分別自性為所依也。

The five dharmas, three svabhāvas, eight consciousnesses, and two kinds of selflessness are all noble knowledge affairs spoken of in this sūtra. The bodhisattvas, having already heard the explanation of the eight consciousnesses completed, wished to hear the teaching of the three svabhāvas; therefore Mahāmati requested it again. Mentioning only *Discriminating the Svabhāva* sūtra is to cite the general to subsume the particulars. "The basis upon which the discrimination of the one hundred and eight statements relies" means that the one hundred and eight statements rely upon the discrimination of svabhāva.
