'Forms and so forth as well as the mind do not exist' verses the svabhāva of vikalpa above as not going beyond external dust particles such as form and the internal consciousness-mind. Speaking in terms of principle, they are originally nonexistent. As for this single character 'nonexistence' (無), there is no sharp sword for severing vikalpa that surpasses it; if one can shoulder it, what conceptualization will not be eliminated? But ordinary people do not understand and give rise to vikalpa, conversely seizing upon them to nourish their own minds; therefore bodies, objects of enjoyment, and other things are established through this. Speaking from the origin, they are manifested by the storehouse consciousness, and so mind, mentation, and consciousness arise in succession. 'The svabhāva dharmas are five' refers to the establishment of the five dharmas such as nāma and lakṣaṇa based on the three svabhāvas, as well as the two kinds of selflessness. 'Those who speak extensively...' verses that vikalpas of existence and nonexistence, relative observation, and so on are not proper causes. 'Through the discriminated affairs of minute dust particles, one does not give rise to forms...' verses the mistaken and vikalpic notion of breaking down horns to find no horns. 'The place where the mental measure is established' verses the contemplation of one's own mind being free from the notions of existence and nonexistence, which is the locus of the establishment of the ultimate, not the realm relished by the evil views, perceptions, and thoughts of tīrthikas and Hīnayānists, but the realm of personal realization spoken of by the Buddha.
