「大慧！外道作如是說，謂命即是身，如是等無記論。大慧！彼諸外道愚癡於因作無記論，非我所說。大慧！我所說者離攝所攝，妄想不生。云何止彼？大慧！若攝所攝計著者，不知自心現量故止彼。大慧！如來、應供、等正覺以四種記論為眾生說法。大慧！止記論者，我時時說，為根未熟，不為熟者。」

"Mahāmati, the tīrthikas put forward such views, claiming that the life principle is identical with the body, and other such inexpressible theses. Mahāmati, those tīrthikas, through foolishness concerning causes, construct inexpressible theses; this is not my teaching. Mahāmati, what I teach is free from the grasper and the grasped, and vikalpa does not arise. Why set them aside? Mahāmati, because those who cling to the grasper and the grasped do not know cittadṛśyamātra, they are set aside. Mahāmati, the Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha expounds the Dharma for sentient beings through four modes of declaration. Mahāmati, setting aside the declared thesis is what I teach from time to time for those whose faculties are not yet ripe, not for those whose faculties are ripe."
