"Mind, thought, and consciousness" speaks collectively of consciousness. Staying far away from the dharma of thinking is knowledge. Attaining the dharma of non-thinking transforms consciousness into knowledge. This is a bodhisattva and not a śrāvaka; this speaks of the beginning of knowledge. "Tranquil, supreme, progressing forbearance" is the Tathāgata's knowledge of the forbearance of cessation; this speaks of the culmination of knowledge. This pure knowledge arises from the excellent ultimate truth (paramārtha), which is why all spheres of practice are left far behind.
