陰、界、入生滅，前文固言之矣，而大慧復有請者，意謂陰、界、入法有迷有解，以解則彼無有我，誰為生滅？以迷則愚夫依於生滅，不覺若盡，不識涅槃，何由出離生死耶？

The arising and cessation of the skandhas, dhātus, and āyatanas was certainly spoken of in the preceding text, but the reason Mahāmati requests it again is that within the dharmas of the skandhas, dhātus, and āyatanas there are delusion and understanding: through understanding, they are without a self, so who undergoes arising and cessation? Through delusion, foolish common people rely on arising and cessation, do not perceive the end of suffering, and do not know nirvāṇa—by what means could they escape saṃsāra?
