When Ganges sands flow with the current, foolish people only see the sands flowing and do not see the water; when viewed with wisdom, it is not that there is no water. This illustrates that all dharmas taught by the Tathāgata accord with nirvāṇa, as if flowing with the current, yet do not have the meaning of 'going'; hence it is said, 'The Tathāgata does not drift along with destinations.' This means that awakening to the nature within dharmas, one does not turn according to appearances; hence it is not like the flowing of going, because 'going' has the meaning of the destruction of saṃsāra. Regarding 'the primal limit of saṃsāra', etc., the Ru Lengqie says: 'The primal limit of saṃsāra cannot be known. Since it cannot be known, how could one speak of destinies (gati)? Mahāmati, the meaning of destiny is annihilation, which ordinary fools do not understand.' 'Destiny' (qu) is just 'going' (qu).
