"If impermanence entered into all natures, it would fall into the three periods of time: past form would be concurrent with destruction; the future would not arise, because form does not arise; present form would be concurrent with the characteristic of destruction. Form is an aggregate and differentiation of the four great elements; the intrinsic nature of the four great elements and the created form is indestructible, because it is free from identity and difference. Hence, for all tīrthikas, all four great elements are indestructible. In the three realms of existence, the four great elements and created form have origination and cessation within the knowable; apart from the four great elements and created form, upon what could any tīrthika contemplate that nature is impermanent? For the four great elements do not arise, because their intrinsic nature and characteristics are indestructible."
