2.211

"The srotaāpanna severs the three fetters, and greed and delusion do not arise. If a srotaāpanna should form this thought: 'These fetters are not possessed by me,' they would incur two errors: falling into view of the body, and failing to sever the fetters." Mahāmati said to the Buddha, "World-Honoured One, the World-Honoured One speaks of many kinds of greedy desire; which greed among them is severed?" The Buddha told Mahāmati, "Craving and delighting in women, entangling and obsessive greed, various skillful means of evil bodily and verbal actions, experiencing present pleasure and planting future suffering—these do not arise. Why is this? Because they attain the bliss of the correct absorption of samādhi. Therefore that is severed, but the greed to proceed toward nirvāṇa is not severed."
