"Or some say that things mutually generate one another, and that there is no other cause for birth and death; this itself is clinging to a cause, yet in their folly they are unable to realize it, and because they do not know, they conceive the notion of nirvāṇa. Or there are tīrthikas who say they have attained the path of the true reality, and conceive the notion of nirvāṇa. Or they see qualities (guṇa), and the combination, identity and difference, both and neither arising from qualities, and conceive the notion of nirvāṇa. Or they see the plumage of the peacock, the diverse jewels, and the nature of sharp thorns arising from nature (svabhāva), and having seen these, they conceive the notion of nirvāṇa.
