3.214

"There are such diverse kinds of vikalpa spoken by the tīrthikas, which are unestablished as what is established and are discarded by the wise. Mahāmati, all such people fall into the two extremes, conceiving the notion of nirvāṇa. In such tīrthika vikalpas of nirvāṇa, there is neither arising nor ceasing whatsoever. Mahāmati, in each and every one of those tīrthika nirvāṇas, when observed with wisdom according to their own treatises, nothing at all is established; just as their vikalpa mind and thoughts drift, wander, and fluctuate back and forth, none of them attains nirvāṇa.
