"Mahāmati, regarding the nonexistence of all dharmas, awakening to cittadṛśyamātra, and being free from the two kinds of vikalpa, bodhisattva-mahāsattvas rely on the meaning and do not rely on the letters. If a good man or good woman relies on letters, they destroy the paramārtha for themselves and are also unable to awaken others; falling into the continuum of pernicious views, they preach to the assembly, not skillfully understanding all dharmas, all stages, and all marks, nor understanding sections and phrases. If one is skilled in all dharmas, all stages, and all marks, thoroughly penetrates sections and phrases, and is complete in nature and meaning, then one can delight oneself with the joy of right signlessness, and establish sentient beings in the equal Mahāyāna."
