10.23

問：集既有四，苦果何二？答：惑隨於解，集則有四；解隨於惑，但感二死。例如小乘惑隨於解，則有見諦、思惟。若解隨於惑，但是一分段生死爾。

Question: Since origination has four, why are the fruit-results of suffering only two? Answer: Delusion follows understanding, so origination has four; understanding follows delusion, so it induces only two kinds of death. For example, in the Hīnayāna, if delusion follows understanding, there are [the paths of] seeing the truths and cultivation. If understanding follows delusion, it is only the single saṃsāra of delimited rebirth.
