Above, it was explained that the Dharmakāya and the binding phenomena of the skandhas, dhātus, and āyatanas are free from difference and non-difference; here, it further explains that it is free from difference and non-difference with the supramundane dharma of liberation. The Tathāgata's Dharmakāya is spoken of by the name of liberation, stating that the Tathāgata and liberation are neither different nor non-different. If the Tathāgata were different from liberation, he would be identical to material form and thus impermanent; if the Tathāgata and liberation were identical, then there would be no distinction between the person and the attained dharma, and practitioners would see no distinction. Yet because there is a distinction between the person who realizes and the dharma that is attained, they are not identical. Therefore, the Tathāgata and liberation are free from difference and non-difference.
