Some take an existent nature to be nirvāṇa; some take a non-existent nature to be nirvāṇa; some take the two phenomena of existence and non-existence to be nirvāṇa. Or they take the ten thousand things to be agitation and nirvāṇa to be quiescence, with the non-distinction between these two being nirvāṇa. The various false suppositions of the non-Buddhists mentioned above give rise to views of nirvāṇa. Their characteristics are extensively explained in treatises such as Deva's.
