Fourth is the great nirvāṇa of non-abiding. This refers to true suchness emerging from the cognitive barrier, constantly assisted by great compassion and wisdom; by this means, one does not abide in birth-and-death or in nirvāṇa, benefiting and gladdening sentient beings to the end of the future, functioning yet constantly quiescent; therefore it is called nirvāṇa. All sentient beings possess the first one; the non-learners of the two vehicles may possess the first three; only the Buddha, the World-Honoured One, can be said to possess all four.
