"Broad" (guang) receives its name from function, taking manifoldness and vastness as its meaning. "Manifoldness" means that this nature of perfect enlightenment inherently possesses wondrous functions exceeding the sands of the Ganges, quietly stirring and secretly responding without rest and without end. "Vastness" means that these endless functions are each identical to the enlightened nature, without boundary and without limitation. Thus the text states: "Because the enlightened nature is omnipresent and completely boundless, one should know that the six sense organs pervade the dharmadhātu, and so on up to eighty-four thousand dhāraṇī doors pervading the dharmadhātu."
