此破一也。前四句牒計，則明下四句立理，若與下六句推破。見與境一，境滅見亡，如何分辦明之與暗？若明下三句結非，明暗自殊，見不隨滅，應知此見不與境一。

This refutes identity. The first four lines restate the view; the four lines from 'then the two substances...' establish the reasoning; the six lines from 'If it is identical...' infer and refute. If seeing were one with the object, then when the object perishes, seeing would vanish; how could one distinguish light and darkness? The three lines from 'If light...' conclude the error: light and darkness are naturally distinct, yet seeing does not perish along with them; one should know that this seeing is not one with the object.
