三言依止者。若與比丘及以白衣共相雜住，倒說四事，惑亂正法。或在道雖久，癡無所知；隨緣壞行，不能自立；數懺數犯。須僧治罰，依彼明德咨問法訓，使行成益己故也。治法略同於上。與依止已，親近知法律人，學知毘尼；明達持犯者，當為解之。《涅槃》云：置羯磨者，安置有德之所。餘如〈師資〉法中。

Third, the act of placing under dependence. If one lives promiscuously together with bhikṣus and laypeople, expounds the four matters perversely, and confuses the true Dharma; or though having been in the Path for a long time, is foolish and knows nothing, breaking his conduct according to circumstances and unable to establish himself, repeatedly repenting and repeatedly offending. He must be disciplined and penalized by the saṃgha, depending upon an eminent and virtuous one to consult and ask for teachings of the Dharma, so that his conduct may be perfected and benefit himself. The disciplinary procedure is roughly the same as above. After granting dependence, he should draw close to those who know the Dharma and Vinaya, study and know the Vinaya; when he clearly understands observance and transgression, it should be revoked for him. The Nirvāṇa Sūtra states: To impose this karman is to place him in a residence of virtue. The rest is as in the chapter on the 'Preceptor and Disciple' regulations.
