若見眾中有過，不得即訶。命來屏處，一一誨示云：「此一方住處，共大德有之。末法之中，以威儀為僧，方助佛揚化。若眾中有一行一法勝妙者，令他處遵學；豈得有過，令他聞之，令生不善，自他兩失。今大德有某事不善，不依佛制，願即改之；欲共相成進，以引導後生耳！」必是己之弟子、眷屬、同友，對眾訶舉亦得。不得立至四人，以不舉僧也，非法，得罪。

If one sees a fault in the assembly, one must not rebuke it immediately. Summon the person to a secluded place and instruct him point by point, saying: 'This dwelling place of this region is shared by me with the Venerable. In the Latter Age of the Dharma, relying on deportment as monks, we can thereby aid the Buddha in propagating the transformation. If there is a single practice or a single Dharma in our assembly that is superior and marvelous, it causes other places to follow and learn it; how could there be a fault that causes others to hear of it, causing them to generate unwholesomeness, so that both self and others lose out? Now, Venerable, you have a certain unwholesome matter that does not follow the Buddha's regulations. We hope you will correct it immediately; we only wish to advance and support each other, so as to guide the younger generation!' If it is one's own disciple, kin, or fellow companion, rebuking and reproving them before the assembly is also permissible. One must not directly summon four people, because this would be an incomplete assembly and is unlawful, incurring an offense.
