教授師至受者所，正敷坐具，坐已。語令敷坐具，為舒正四角，相對相及申手內。《五分》云：應安慰言：「汝莫恐懼，須臾持汝著高勝處。」

The instructing master goes to the candidate's place, properly spreads his sitting mat, and sits down. He tells [the candidate] to spread his sitting mat, adjusting the four corners squarely so that they face each other and are within reach of an outstretched hand. The Pañcavargika-vinaya states: One should comfort him, saying: "Do not be afraid; in a moment you will be placed in an exalted and sublime position."
