應語言：「善男子諦聽！今是至誠時，我今當問汝。汝隨我問答，若不實者，當言不實；若實，言實。何以如此？由無始來，欺誑聖賢，沈沒生死；今欲捨虛妄，證真實法故，令汝實答。今問汝遮難，若不實答，徒自浪受。律云：犯遮難人，七佛一時為受，亦不得戒。」

One should say to him: "Listen attentively, good son! Now is the time of utmost sincerity; I shall now question you. You must answer according to what I ask. If it is not true, you must say it is not true; if it is true, say it is true. Why is this so? Because since beginningless time, by deceiving the noble and wise, [sentient beings] have sunk in saṃsāra. Now, desiring to renounce falsehood and realize the true Dharma, you are told to answer truthfully. Now I ask you about the impediments. If you do not answer truthfully, you receive [the precepts] entirely in vain. The Vinaya states: If a person has committed an impediment, even if seven Buddhas were to confer [the precepts] on him at the same time, he would still not obtain the precepts."
