上五緣中，律云：不應專為飲食故，除餘因緣，衣鉢藥草等是也。今有夏中，多為乞麥，妄言為衣鉢，縱為而乞，律結正罪。或曲命別情，令他請召，皆不成也。律中諸請，一一遣信別請；若父母餘人，同《十誦》中；並不為己利故也。

Regarding the above five circumstances, the Vinaya states: 'One should not go exclusively for the sake of food and drink, except for other causes and conditions, which are robes, bowls, medicinal herbs, and the like.' Nowadays, during varṣā, many go to beg for wheat, falsely claiming it is for robes and bowls; even if begging for that purpose, the Vinaya determines it as an actual offense. Or, if one deviously solicits private favors, causing others to invite him, none of these are accomplished. For the various invitations in the Vinaya, one must send a messenger to invite individually each time; for parents and others, it is the same as in the Daśādhyāya-vinaya; in all cases, it is because it is not for one's own profit.
