《大論》云：戒律雖微細，懺則清淨。犯十善戒，雖懺，三惡道罪不除。如比丘殺畜，罪報猶在。前已具出。恐慢性戒，謂言懺已無業。餘如行法所述。

The Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa says: Although the vinaya precepts are minute, if one confesses them, one becomes pure. If one violates the precepts of the ten good actions, although one confesses, the retributions of the three evil destinies are not eliminated. Just as when a bhikṣu kills an animal, the karmic retribution still remains. This was already fully set forth before. Fearing that one might neglect the natural precepts, thinking that once confessed there is no karma, the rest is as described in the chapter on practices.
